ACLED Analysis welcomes written contributions from Regional Specialists, Senior Researchers, Research Managers, and Researchers. Analysis proposals are either assigned directly by the Analysis team or approved by the Analysis team upon submission from the respective Regional Specialists (or Research Managers when there are no Regional Specialists). All written contributions must be in line with the spirit and the content of the annual ACLED Analysis Agenda and must comply with the formats and contents outlined in the Analysis Guide. For more information, please contact the Regional Specialist for your respective region.
Regional Overviews provide monthly coverage of significant events and trends across six regions: Africa; Asia; Europe & Central Asia; Latin America & the Caribbean; Middle East; and North America.
At the start of each year, ACLED identifies 10 conflicts or crisis situations around the world that are likely to worsen or evolve in the coming months. Not just hotspots, these 10 cases represent areas where new directions and patterns of violence are becoming clear, where there have been major shifts in conflict dynamics, and where there is a significant risk of conflict diffusion.
Election Watch provides special coverage of elections around the world, tracking key political violence developments before, during, and after voting.
Cabo Ligado — or 'connected cape' — is a conflict observatory launched by ACLED, Zitamar News, and MediaFax to monitor political violence in Mozambique. Cabo Ligado produces weekly and monthly reports focused on the conflict in northern Mozambique.
The Horn of Africa project provides special coverage of political violence in Somalia, Sudan, and Kenya. As part of the project, ACLED produces regular monthly reports covering conflict dynamics in each country.
The Ethiopia Peace Observatory (EPO) provides special coverage of political violence across Ethiopia. In addition to regional conflict and actor profiles, the EPO produces regular weekly and monthly reports covering new developments in the conflict landscape.
Local government officials and administrators — including governors, mayors, councilors, and other civil servants — frequently come under attack by a wide array of armed actors, from cartels waging turf wars in Mexico to Russian occupying forces in Ukraine. In order to better analyze this trend and its impacts around the world, ACLED has launched a new project to systematically track incidents of violence targeting local officials for the first time.
This dedicated research hub provides near real-time information on the conflict, including a curated data file, interactive data visualization tools, and weekly analysis of violence patterns in Ukraine, Russia, and the broader region.
The Yemen Conflict Observatory (YCO) is a living hub that combines data-driven analysis with robust qualitative assessments of political violence and disorder in Yemen to enable greater awareness of how the status quo is shifting, complemented by providing a deeper contextual understanding of the conflict environment.
